Celine Dion has perfected her clap back to body haters about her being ‘gaunt’
The 51-year-old singer isn’t putting up with any of the criticism she’s received about her slimmer figure.
Celine Dion has been the subject of body shaming.
The singer was deemed “shockingly too thin” and “so gaunt” last year after several public appearances. But the 51-year-old wants everyone who thinks she’s lost too much weight to know she’s doing perfectly fine.
“I do ballet. I do a lot of stretching and I work out because it helps my mind, body and soul. When you go back, when I was 12 years old, my face was rounder because you have more fat when you’re younger… But I’ve always been very thin.”
Despite all the criticism and concern, the Grammy Award-winner said her main focus is on what’s best for herself.
“If you don’t want to be criticised, you are in the wrong place,” the singer said. “I take the positive. I take what’s good for me. I leave behind what is not good for me.”
It hasn’t been the first time Dion addressed body shamers. In January 2019, the singer made headlines after appearing slimmer than usual at Paris Fashion Week, but she wasn’t having a bar of it.
“If you like it, I’ll be there. If you don’t, leave me alone,” she said during an interview on Dan Wootton’s podcast in January.
“I want to wear whatever I want, I want to do whatever I choose to do… I’m doing this for me. I want to feel strong, beautiful, feminine, fierce and sexy.”
